Virtual Reality Comes to Climate Change Conference in Silver Bay

An interactive virtual reality exhibit called “The Aquatic Messenger” will be one of many features at the Oct. 27 “Adirondack Communities: Preparing for and Responding to Climate Change” conference at the Silver Bay YMCA Conference Center in Hague.

The exhibit explores Lake George through different eras, from Paleozoic to modern times and beyond, featuring larger-than-life plankton, which are microscopic in reality.

The interactive gaming-like technology is an art and science project created by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute using some research from The Jefferson Project water quality monitoring and modeling initiative on Lake George.
