Thousands of people will be visiting the Adirondacks this Memorial Day weekend and throughout the summer months to come. A $700,000 new state-of-the-art boat washing station is designed to keep unwelcome aquatic invasive species from hitching a ride with them.
State and local officials unveiled the facility Thursday at the Adirondack Welcome Center, between Exits 17 and 18 of the Northway.
“This really is a historic moment in our fight to prevent the fast-growing scourge of aquatic invasive species,” said Eric Siy, Fund for Lake George executive director. “But we can’t stop here. The fight against invasive species is far from over.”
