Officials Celebrate Grand Opening of Boat Wash Station at Adirondack Welcome Center

Thousands of people will be visiting the Adirondacks this Memorial Day weekend and throughout the summer months to come. A $700,000 new state-of-the-art boat washing station is designed to keep unwelcome aquatic invasive species from hitching a ride with them.

State and local officials unveiled the facility Thursday at the Adirondack Welcome Center, between Exits 17 and 18 of the Northway.

This really is a historic moment in our fight to prevent the fast-growing scourge of aquatic invasive species,” said Eric Siy, Fund for Lake George executive director. “But we can’t stop here. The fight against invasive species is far from over.”
