LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. — The Jefferson Project at Lake George is making real-time water quality and weather data from its unprecedented scientific monitoring and research program available directly to the public through a new digital Data Dashboard at jeffersonproject.live.

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Adirondack Welcome Center south of Northway exit 18 is more than just a rest stop. It also houses a boat wash station, where boaters can get their vessels checked for invasive species before hitting the water.
On Wednesday, New York DEC officials showed off how the station works, and talked about why it’s important to keep invasive plant species out of Adirondack water bodies.

January 17, 2020, Finger Lakes Times | The data-driven Jefferson Project gives advance warning of harmful algal blooms on Lake George and Skaneateles Lake. The possibility of it working on Seneca, Cayuga, Canandaigua and Keuka lakes was floated Wednesday at the 2020 Finger Lakes Research Conference, “Threats to the Finger Lakes,” at the Scandling Center on the campus of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. It was sponsored by Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association.

January 7, 2020, Adirondack Explorer | Lake George taxpayers received welcome news from Gov. Andrew Cuomo when he announced $9.4 million toward the village’s new wastewater treatment plant. The funding will help alleviate outsize costs to the 1,000 or so taxpayers who are supporting a system that sometimes serves more than 20,000 people a day. Kathy Flacke Muncil, chair of the the Fund for Lake George’s Council of Business Advisors, said in a news release that the new state funding “is paramount to the future health of our regional economy.”
