Starting in mid-May, boaters going to Lake George will have to go through mandatory inspections to make sure vessels on trailers aren't harboring any invasive species such as Eurasian milfoil, Asian clams or spiny water fleas.
The program, which will include six inspection stations around the lake, is the culmination of more than a year's worth of discussion, debate and planning.
Some hope it will serve as a model for other protections on nearby lakes.
