George R. Hearst III and Dr. John E. Kelly III Join the FUND for Lake George as Trustees

February 25, 2013 (Lake George, New York) The FUND for Lake George today announced that George R. Hearst lll and Dr. John E. Kelly lll have joined The FUND’s Board of Trustees. Mr. Hearst and Dr. Kelly are both residents of Assembly Point on Lake George. 
 
In welcoming Mr. Hearst and Dr. Kelly, Jeff Killeen, Chairman of The FUND for Lake George said: “Both George and John bring to The FUND not only their personal passion for Lake George, but also a global leadership perspective on the issue of sustainability and the wise protection of vital natural resources. With Lake George at a pivotal ‘inflection point’ especially with regard to the threat from invasive species and long term water quality management – having distinguished leaders such as George and John join the FUND team could not be more timely or important.” 
 
George Hearst is the publisher and CEO of the Albany Times Union, the largest multimedia company serving New York’s Greater Capital Region. George joined the Times Union in 1989 as director of operations and planning, and has subsequently served as a Vice President, Associate Publisher and General Manager. He is a director of the Hearst Corporation, and also serves on numerous local area boards including The Center for Economic Growth, The College of Saint Rose, St. Peter’s Health Partners, SPAC, The Center for Disability Services, and the Double H Hole In The Woods Ranch, among others. 
 
Mr. Hearst has played major philanthropic leadership roles for a wide range of organizations and causes, and has led a number of major fund raising initiatives. He currently chairs the St. Peter’s Hospital Capital Campaign. His civic involvement has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the Distinguished Citizen’s Award from the Boy Scouts of America; the 
President’s Award from the YMCA; the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Albany and the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Center For Disability Services.
