FUND Set to Finance Septic Upgrades in Lake George

August 23, 2019, Lake George Mirror | Residents of the Town of Lake George who agree to have their septic systems inspected and maintained will be eligible for grants to modernize and improve them. Of the town’s nearly 400 septic systems within 500 feet of the shore of Lake George and 100 feet of major tributaries, one-third are near or past their life expectancy, which is thirty to forty years.

Officials dedicate Charles R. Wood Park in Lake George

May 29, 2019, Post Star | Lake George Waterkeeper Chris Navitsky said the park has been doing better than expected in removing potential contaminants from the lake. Environmental officials had the goal of removing 50% of the phosphorous and 90% of the total suspended sediments running off from the Route 9 commercial corridor. The actual numbers show that 85% of the phosphorous has been removed and 92% of the suspended sediments have been removed.
